Anatomy of an Immersive | Dance | Theater Scene
Scenes for a Pod of People
This workshop explores the basic tenets of developing a scene using elements of character development, narrative progression, physical theater, and movement for non-traditional spaces. As opposed to more intimate 1-on-1 work, this workshop is designed to look at how to account for a slightly larger group or “pod” of both audience and performers within an immersive context. What are the elements that distinguish this kind of immersive design versus a 1-on-1 experienced and how does a narrative move through space?
Alberto Denis joined Third Rail Projects in 2011 performing in the Steampunk Haunted House. Since then, he has worked with Third Rail on numerous other projects. He originated the role of Lewis Carroll for the BESSIE Award-winning immersive theater hit Then She Fell in 2012, and he originated the role of the Activities Director in The Grand Paradise in 2016 (also performing the role of Dad in the show). Alberto enjoys moonlighting as international burlesque star GoGo Gadget, and he’s grateful to have worked with so very many incredible choreographers and artists over the years.
